It is also characterized by its abundance, diversity and endemism. Among the birds, the presence of abundant populations of parrots and cateyes stands out; both species considered threatened. However, other existing birds in this park present critical situations, such as the Royal Woodpecker, possibly extinct and the Hawk Cagüarero, an endemic species whose populations have decreased so much that perhaps only a few pairs remain.
